Corrachan Isle of Mull Self Catering Holdiay Cottage Dervaig

Corrachan Cottage is a traditional stone building situated in the conservation village of Dervaig on the Northwest coast of Isle of Mull.   It is a cosy and comfortable self catering cottage and will accommodate 4 people and a baby, with a double and twin bedroom and bathroom upstairs and a kitchen, sitting room and utility room downstairs. It is heated through out with oil fired central heating and a multi fuel stove in the sitting room.

The village of Dervaig has two shops, one with a post office, there is a pub that serves food and a 'two rosette' restaurant, a short walk away. There is a bus service to the main town of Tobermory. Within a five mile radius there are several good restaurants and a heritage centre where you can buy a cup of tea and a light snack,

At Calgary Beach there is a gallery which also serves teas and light meals. The gallery will also provide you with information for the Woodland Walk, which incorporates interesting works of art and a fabulous view over the beach.

Dervaig is a traditional looking village and was originally built to house the workers on the nearby estate during the late 18C but was more or less 'cleared' in later years. In more recent times the number of houses has increased all over the island providing a steady income for many people in a number of ways. Dervaig has vibrant community spirit where the local people are keen to include visitors in all events.

Calgary Woodland Walk

The village store/post office near the cottage is well stocked with food, wine and spirits and weekday newspapers. And when you see the little grey tractor pass by the cottage give Jonny and Ina a wave, they are true Mull people. Further along the village is the coffee/book shop where the Sunday newspapers are sold, and just past the Bellacroy Hotel is the local village church. Turn left before the bridge and this will take you towards Mull Theatre, at one time claimed to be the smallest Theatre in the world. A varied programme of shows are included in the tiny theatre, to find out more visit www.mulltheatre.com or call in and see Lesley at the Royal Building situated at the far end of the main Street Tobermory.

Local Places of Interest

Walk and Heritage Centre
Glen Cottage is situated opposite the river Bellart. It provides an ideal situation to watch the local birding wildlife. The Old Byre Heritage Centre is opposite the cottage, where you can see some of the local Dervaig history and enjoy some home baking. The Forest Enterprise walk at West Ardhu is close by and is easily reached on foot from the cottage.

Dervaig Bridge
The bridge over the river Bellart on the road from Dervaig to Calgary holds many secrets and is still used for fishing for salmon and sea trout.

Calgary Beach
Easy access and parking together with its golden sands make this beach one of the most popular on the Island. If you don't have transport then you can travel there using the local Tobermory to Calgary 'bus service that runs throughout the day. If you wish to have a light lunch whilst you are at the beach, the Calgary Farmhouse Gallery will serve your needs and there is a pleasant woodland walk between the beach and the Gallery. Paintings and other artwork by local artists are displayed and you may purchase the exhibits if you wish.

Calgary Wood
This is not a truly natural wood. You will see great beauty of nature in the rocks, trees, flowers, in the sea, in sunshine and shadows. And yet the trees were planted and tended, people have worked the wood and surrounding land for hundreds of years. What we see now is a product of both nature and of man's efforts, a working environment, a cultural landscape.

Mull Little Theatre
This world famous theatre is the longest established professional theatre in the Highlands and Islands (1966), it’s one of the oldest touring theatre companies in Scotland, and is the only company in the area to have its own venue. The theatre is situated at the rear of the property in the grounds of the Druimard Hotel.

Kilmore Church
This is 10  minutes walk from the cottage and is quite unique in its structure. It is currently undergoing external refurbishment.
